This first crossover SUV from Chevrolet is marketed as a compact SUV. Based on GM’s Theta platform, this is similar to GMC Terrain, Pontiac Torrent, and the 2007 Suzuki XL7. It has a front-wheel drive layout, with optional all-wheel drive and is not designed for serious off-roading like the truck-based Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The Equinox Sport is fitted with a 3.6 L V6 engine that is made in the U.S, since 2008.
This Sport model of the Equinox features lowered ride height and the new 3.6 DOHC V6, larger, more powerful engine that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in under seven seconds and has a slightly different exterior styling. This 18 inch wheels and a six speed automatic transmission is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. The LTZ model is different from other Equinox models by its 17-inch (430 mm) bright chrome-clad aluminium wheels, door handles and luggage rack side rail inserts. Its interior features include heated front seats, side impact air bags, six-disc CD changer and MP3 CD with a Pioneer premium seven-speaker audio system.
